Butter London: Slapper

More Butter London!  It has been a while since I sat down and wrote a blog post.  I have missed this!!  Aside from always loving my usual pink / red / purple polishes, I have always held a spot in my heart for teal / turquoise polishes.  I love how bright and eye-catching the colour is.  Though I do own my share of turquoise polishes, I still decided to pick up Butter London's Slapper - part of their Spring 2012 collection (along with Knackered - see post here).  I have been wearing this colour either on my toes or fingers for about 2 weeks now... I will never tire of this polish!

Sadly, these pictures are not exactly true to colour.  My camera captures this colour as more of a cool-toned blue.  However, in real life, I would describe Slapper to be a true teal/turquoise - a green toned blue.  It is more green than OPI's Fly and very similar to American Apparel's ------ as well as Urban Outfitters Green #9.

Though I do love this shade, I was a little disappointed in the application and formular consistency.  After LOVING Knackered,  I was sad to that the creme finish formula was both runny and thick at the same time.  In the bottle, it appears to be thin and easy enough to work with, however, once applied to the nails, you had to work quickly and evenly as it got gloopy fast.  First coat was thin and sheer - a bit patchy.  Second coat was thicker and though not streaky, left some bald patches.  My third (half) coat was thicker and let some streaks but was hardest to apply.  Luckily, after using a coat of the Butter London Hardwear, it smoothed out and looked nice and even. (Realistically, you can get away with a thick 2nd coat and be done with it, I'm just picky.)

Overall, I love this colour so much it outweighs the formula. As for Butter London polishes, I'll definitely be picking up more.  I purchased this polish at Glymm.com - but would suggest swatching these first as I didn't realize how close of a colour match this is to other polishes I have.  Still, I love it.  You can find these in Canada for $14 - $19 each depending on where you buy them.

What do you think?  Have you tried Butter London?
