Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed & Tipsy: Review & Swatches

Today's feature product is Blush!  Tarte Amazonian 12 hour/long-wearing Blush to be exact!  I   personally own 2 shades: Exposed and Tipsy.  These are both beautifully pigmented and long wearing blushes.  With simplistic, no fuss and convenient packaging, these are definitely a product to check out.

As far as the color is concerned, Exposed is described by tarte and sephora to be a nude.  However, I would describe it to be more of a deep, plum brown nude.  There is a warm undertone to this blush and it is a beautifully natural looking blush for day to day wear.  It is also a matte shade which is so nice to find.

On the other hand, the first blush I tried by Tarte, was Tipsy.  Tipsy is a bright, orange-coral.  It is bright and yet wearable.  I would recommend this colour as a perfect way to brighten up a spring or summer look.  Paired with a neutral eye, this is a lovely colour to wear. Again, this is also a matte blush. A perfectly natural and yet bright look.
These blushes wear wonderfully.  I don't know if they wear 12 hours on my oily-combination skin but they do wear the usually 8+ hours that I have makeup on for.  I am always amazed when I can come home and still see a cheek colour on.  These are nice and mostly matte. (They seem to have slight shimmer to them but they do not wear or swatch shimmery at all.) The powder itself is finely milled and does not appear cakey on top of foundation.  Pigmentation is great but the colour is buildable.  I would suggest using very little and a light hand and building up.  These are medium swatches - not just one swipe but two - and not too heavily done.
The blush itself weighs 5.6g or 0.20oz which is a fair amount.  I have used these almost daily and have yet to see a dent in these.  The blushes are all embossed with the pattern seen above. The compact comes with a mirror and is light weight and not bulky in the least.  What's also neat is that these blushes are held into place by a magnet.  So if you ever did want to transfer them to another palette, all you would need to do is pop them out.

Overall, I love these blushes.  They have to be my favourite in wear and some of the best in colour.  They wear well on all skin types but are definitely worth a look if you have oiler skin and tend to have products 'disappear' from your face after a few hours.  These can be found at Sephora.

Have you ever tried Tarte blushes?  If not, what is your favourite blush?

  2. I have a mini size of the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Dollface. A great color for fair skinned individuals - but even on me it can look a little 'doll-like' so I have to go careful with it and not be too heavy handed in my application. These are two of the other colors that I'm dying to try...

    1. exposed is the most universally flattering i find. it can easily be built up or used lightly.
if it's ever "too much" use a buffer brush to soften the look - or try applying it using a stippling brush or duo fiber brush- weird idea yes but it works nicely if you are generally heavy handed, i find.
