Revlon Colorburst Lipsticks: Review & Swatches

Give some love to some of my favourite drugstore lipsticks, Revlon Colorburst Lipsticks.  I currently own 3 colors: Raspberry (045), Plum (010) and Peach (075).  My love of these first started about 2 years ago when I started to purchase and wear my own lipstick (rather than borrow my mom's).  These were on sale and I decided that Peach seemed like a pretty and safe colour.  Boy, am I ever happy I picked this lipstick up.  Until this day, Revlon continues to be one of my favourite lip product brand, right next to MAC and Lancome, among other Department store brands. At it's affordable cost and knowing how easily accessible they are, these lipsticks definitely deserve some love.

Revlon seems fond of their quilted packaging which adorns all of the 'colorburst' line (lipstick, lip gloss and lip butter).  I must admit, it is one of the sleeker and prettier packing for lipstick found at a drugstore.  The tops of these rectangular tubes have a square colour patch which is meant to show you the "colour of the lipstick inside".  It's usually a decent match.
Now, on to the swatches.  I would define the finish of these to be somewhere between a satin and cremesheen.  The formula feels fairly moisturizing on the lips and they have a nice gloss to them.  The pigmentation/colour payoff is good (and does not vary much between shades - though some are more sheer than others).  Staying power is decent and lasts about as long as a MAC cremesheen.
From L to R: Plum (010), Raspberry (045) & Peach (075)
The swatches above are ONE swipe of each colour.  My favourite of the moment would have to be Raspberry.  It is the perfect alternative to a red lip and compliments my skin tone very nicely. (For reference I'm an NC - or I have mostly yellow/gold and slightly beige undertones to my skin.)  It goes on smoothly and the pigmentation is easily buildable.  These have a nice gloss finish and work nicely with and without gloss over top.

What do you think of Revlon lipsticks? Have you tried these? If so, what are your favourite shades?

xo, Chanel
